In 2018, Bank 1st took great strides to become an environmentally friendly bank!

Geothermal

Bank 1st hooked up to West Union's downtown geothermal system in the summer of 2018.  As part of the conversion, the bank replaced 13 existing heating/cooling units within its downtown bank location with 7 geothermal heat pumps.  Geothermal will create a consistent, eco-friendly source of energy to heat and cool our downtown location.

Solar

In the fall, the bank installed and hooked up to its own solar panel grid.  The main bank location is now hooked up to 176 solar panels at 365 watts each for a total system size of 64.24kW.  It is estimated this system will produce 60% of our total electrical needs!

LED Lighting

Among all Bank 1st locations, we installed over 500 high efficiency LED bulbs replacing the existing incandescent and fluorescent bulbs.  Such efforts will aide in reducing the overall energy consumption of all Bank 1st locations.
